Liam Fox has a damn cheek. He claims the press were picking on him. I don’t recall him rushing to the defence of David Blunkett or Peter Mandelson when the media were investigating their activities.
I also notice that in his statements he slips into the passive voice accepting that “the code was breached” and refusing to ‘fess up and say “I breached the code”. He’s still in denial in the face of the evidence. Clearly he still believes he was in the right.
He is also said to be upset that he’s lost his job! But he’s only lost one of his jobs, the one at the MoD. Plenty of people in the MoD, other civil service departments and the rest of the public sector have lost their jobs too. The big difference is that they don’t have another highly paid job (or two) to fall back on and that they have done nothing wrong. Indeed by contrast they’ve mostly done a bloody good job and given of their best for the public.
